Maybe we are so miserable because we are predisposed to suffering. Seems like, despite how high the highs are, they are scant compared to the lowest lows. I wonder if future technology will try to shift the balance. What would such a world look like?

We're miserable because almost everything in human society is backwards and self-harming. And... we are in denial of that, which ads great insult to great injury.

denial is much easier. but progress comes only from truth, and that includes (more than anything) being truthful to ourselves. i think this is what spirituality is
