The idea is that the intuition that people could have done differently or that they have pure control over how they behave is false and people who thrive in this world are ultimately just lucky for it and people who don't are ultimately just unlucky.

Everything is the result of a series of causes. If you are the product of all (genes influenced by envir', etc) that happened leading up to the moment, what is agency? Are you responsible for your actions if youre just a chain of cause and effect that extends before you're born?

Determinism is a better approach than free will/free choice - of which none (in my worldview) exist. Everything is pre-determined. Wow, sounds depressing one might say. No. Its my worldview and I'm not depressed. Why? Because our thinking (neuropath-wiring) form our well-being.
