This is something very true that I haven't really seen mentioned before. A serious portion of people studying at university have no idea where their degree will take them in the future, or if it's at all aligned with their desired career path. True and it's similar here. Though vocational pathways are common too. But even so I think many see through that advice & are aware of the dismal graduate job opportunities
