It's really sad that the state of politics is so bad that people want to avoid discussing it at all Politics directly shapes our communities and indeed our reality We should we all be able to speak about it in a civilised manner Is that not the whole point of democracy?

Addendum: I have a suspicion that much of the chaos around political discourse is intentional and with purpose - to make it so toxic so as to alienate regular people from the decision making processes

There is an *old* saying (verbatim): Never discuss religion or politics in polite company. It seems we've never universally been able to speak about it in a civilised manner. The key point of democracy is changing government without bloodshed.
