Thinking humanity sucks isn't nihilism. It's misanthropy. People always confuse the two.
Ah good point, although I think the thought patterns and behavioral influences that come with nihilism very often lead to that hatred. You're right, nihilism in itself isn't bad, it's just philosophy. But in practice it can be harmful

You can be one without being the other. I myself have misanthropic tendencies. I think humanity is pathetic, but I'm not a nihilist. I believe life isn't meaningless. So the beliefs aren't one and the same.
