Freedom is not the ability to do whatever you want. Rather, it’s an expansion of your array of choices. If you don’t expand your mind to see the choices, freedom does little for you. And if you aren’t able to aptly discern, freedom will cripple you.

Familiar with the basic meaning of stoicism, but hadn't really looked it up. I did so. Related to quite a bit of it. Not least taking people's actions as an indicator of who they are, over their words. Perhaps have to be careful about judging in that case, though.

On the note of responsibility, it relates a lot to stoicism in the sense that you take responsibility over yourself & the choices you can make
In that sense the stoic mindset is a ‘how to’ for freedom. How to reclaim it, and how to not be consumed by it
