fundamentally, we are conscious observers of the universe. I like to perceive our relation as symbiotic - the universe needs us in order for its existence to be acknowledged, and likewise, we need it in order for our existence to be possible this cosmic duality fascinates me.
difficult to tell. if this emergence of consciousness was simply a coincidence, then i would say its incompatible because nothing intervened (core of theism). but if consciousness is something the universe is somehow programmed to achieve, then it would be compatible

either way, i dont think the concept of a 'creator' or 'supreme being' in theism/deism lends itself to this idea. more likely i would lean towards the possibility of emergence as the potential fuel towards the creation of consciousness, if that makes any sense

But if there's no creator, or higher power of any sort, then all the interactions of chemicals, planets, stars etc. right from the start would be pre- determined by laws and initial conditions. Therefore how could genuine consciousness & free will spontaneously come to be?
