In fact, even employees in the companies that produce them have little clue what happens in their chain of production.
Modern manufacturing is an elusive machine fuelled by algorithms and huge supply chains.

How do we remain accountable and hold people responsible for unethical practices? maintain transparency? Imagine a world-wide supply blockchain. Complete transparency of working conditions, wages, and origins of all materials.

Imagine going to your local grocery store, taking out your phone, and scanning a bag of coffee beans that showed you exactly where it came from, and a rating of the company's corporate practices. It would be a great step forward in un-alienating ourselves from reality.
