hmm although I think the notion of an internal self is a fallacy. There is a subjective experience, and hiding behind that lots of unconscious processes, feeling states and emotions. Very few people - if any - know 'themselves'

True. Guess this could serve a useful function. Then again, depends on what you’re looking at. After all, every living being is different. So you’ve gotta keep as many constants as possible for an accurate comparison.
