Popper had something to say on this. Essentially: don't begin with observations. Begin instead with a problem you have. Then guess a solution. THEN observe. If your observation doesn't fit your guess, guess again. After some iteration you'll have a solution & your +ve change.

Hm. I sort of get what you’re saying, and that’s why I’ve made it cycle around. But how are we to know that we have a problem in the first place without observing it and catagorising it as a problem based on the fact that is it misaligned with our values?
