Part I of #21_lessons (a summary) [1/11]
Many of us are in a state of panic and disillusionment. The story of liberalism - the one to end history - no longer seems fit for the w.orld. Humans live through stories, and so we are all scrambling to find a new one to replace the old

Perhaps the most important takeaway: “Humans were always far better at inventing tools than using them wisely.” Make of this as you wish! Keen to read on and finish part II. [11/11]

If an unbiased AI, which won’t be prone to parasitic tendencies like greed, has political and economic control, then I feel like they would treat all life as resourceful as long as life is not an existential threat to the AI. Unless the AI turns out to adopt a radical nihilism

-
If we leave AI to study the world around it and adopt values according to that, it’s easy to see how it could favour greed and nihilism. Our economic system favours greed as a means of getting ahead, and it doesn’t take into account the future welfare of the planet
