Curiosity and bewilderment are strong motivations for sanity, but those who are troubled may resort to suicide on these basis. Humor is definitely strong in making us content with life. Divine retribution may be the top trait to consider, but this would require a spiritual sense.

So perhaps more nervous energy is necessary, to make us shy away from our longing for death if we feel the need to continue are mark on the world. Otherwise, suicide may haunt us in our next life.
