Pleasure is the killer. It’s much more persuasive than the pursuit of activities that you logically know will benefit you in the long run. Every time we default to a pleasure focused state, we diminish the potential for a life filled with meaning and purpose.

I think this is possibly because we’re indulging our primitive brain

> "eating a bar of chocolate, staying in bed instead of going for a walk, scrolling through social media etc." I still think that most of these choices aren't about pleasure. Eating a tiny square of chocolate is about pleasure. Eating a whole bar is usually about escape.
