Future planning: thread
We all seem to understand the importance of planning when undertaking new tasks.
It helps us to be aware of risks and implement ways of mitigating them, and it further enables us to consider necessary actions before they are required to be taken 
Seems to me like something is dangerously awry.
I think much of the drought in future planning can be attributed to our overfocus on instantaneous pleasure and satisfaction fuelled by rampant individualism.
Perhaps an increasingly collectivist mindset is necessary. Thoughts?

What makes you think that this is being neglected?

I base this largely on the fact that global politics has little interest in the future. See: climate change, nuclear weapons, biodiversity etc. Whilst there are emerging organisations trying to address larger global issues (
