As someone that worked in testing, I would never have claimed I was a developer. To do so would have been a monumental act of hubris and clearly fuelled by insecurity. Actually making a game is an entirely different field of expertise. I speak from experience.https://twitter.com/johntv/status/1381411953843658752 …

If there weren't testers to test the game during development a finished game would never come out. Hence, they helped make the game.

Helping making a game doesn't make you a developer. A development team consists of different roles. QA is one of them. Just like the developer and designer/analyst. Sometimes even a project manager. Each has different qualities, contributing to the final result.

Exactly, they are actively testing the game to try and make it not a buggy POS.

Well we all saw what happened when input's from QA testers were ignored during development of Cyberpunk.

I get that thinking though. When I worked QA I never considered myself to be a dev of any sort. It wasn’t until I began managing builds and deployments that understood how true your statement is.
-
it's always people that worked like 6 months in some remote publisher QA hellhole that tell people "testing is not developing". when you have a decade in dev testing, have done build engineering, test automation, developed/implemented processes, that's when you know what QA is.

Part of the dev. Team, if budget allows to have dedicated people on it. If we go into details, of course.

That means I was a developer for 3 days in 2005 with Activision!! Wasn't worth the 90 minutes sitting in traffic every morning to drive 22 miles for the crap wage they paid so I quit but at least I did it for a few days lol.
