Several hours ago, a 47th Ward neighbor was struck and killed by a driver as he was crossing Irving Park on foot near Hoyne. He had just departed an early vote rally that I and many others were attending. I am devastated. (1)

Ald. Martin, why do we need 5 lanes of traffic and two parking gutters on this road? This encourages reckless driving.
It would seem appropriate to shrink this down to a single lane in each direction, with parking-protected bike lanes
Sorry rethinking this. Bus rapid transit lanes with boarding islands, a single lane of traffic, and cycling tracks

I'm sure Matt would love this but this road is controlled by the state department of highways. Cars first in their book. We can change that but know this is bigger than Matt.

Ahhh that probably explains why this road has always felt off to me. There are a few stop-less 4-lane crosswalks. And some wild intersections, even for drivers, like the one on Ravenswood
