Dr. Rais Vohra, the interim Fresno County health officer, addresses a couple conspiracy theories at my request. 1) Fresno County is not conflating viral tests with antibody tests. Antibody tests aren't included in the county's test count. Same for entire state.
2) Hospitals in this county did get some of the quick tests from Abbott -- the tests that gave a significant number of false negatives: https://www.statnews.com/2020/05/15/fda-says-abbotts-5-minute-covid-19-test-may-miss-infected-patients/ … They were asked to follow up, use a second test/PCR test to confirm results, so basically didn't rely on Abbott results.
Dr. Stephanie Koch-Kumar, senior epidemiologist with the county, acknowledges the slow process of recording a recovery. She says the team of contact tracers who confirm recoveries is behind, especially because of the HUGE number of new cases coming into the queue.
COMING SOON: The county will only be updating their coronavirus dashboard twice a week. You'll see new cases by day, but they'll only publish twice a week on dashboard. Dr. Koch-Kumar says they're using too much time updating the dashboard.
