Dr. Vohra says Fresno County has some business sectors easy to reopen safely, but we should proceed cautiously and have checks in place in case it creates more cases and deaths.

Dr. Vohra says he’s not putting expectations on today’s phone call with Dr. Angell. He says they’ll have more information about where to go from here, but he’s not going to hold out hope for acceptance of the variance today.

David Pomaville, the county public health director, says they’ve trained people internally and some paramedics from
@AmericanAmb to do contact tracing during the pandemic and for surges later. They’re also training more people like school nurses and at hospitals.Show this thread -
Regarding the deaths, the last three were over the age of 65 (as were the previous 13.) As for whether underlying conditions existed in all 16 of the county’s COVID-19 victims, Dr. Vohra says he’ll have an answer for me during Wednesday’s meeting.

Dr. Vohra says he’ll have his staff work on separating out the active cases in the county’s “cases by community” chart. But he warns that this virus loves complacency, so we shouldn’t take anything for granted.

Dr. Vohra says the increasing case numbers here are partly a result of increased testing, but also people “going rogue” and not following the shelter in place orders. He says the number of hospitalizations and deaths won’t show up immediately when people break out. 2-3 weeks.

Why doesn’t ABC30 state unequivocally and regularly that the curve is not flattening? (Show the graph!) Because much of our news comes from the Northeast, many people think we’re doing better like they are!
