All budget changes in England give rise to a change in Scotland's block grant: But Scotland has tax-varying powers with which it can counteract that change:

That's actually allowed under the rules. Nonviable candidates' voters can get supporters from other nonviable candidates and become viable in the 2nd round. It's not the same rules as ranked choice voting.

Let me see if I have this straight. Pete Buttigieg secretly funded a vast conspiracy to rig the Iowa caucus... but instead of just rigging it so that he won, he rigged it so his loss would be announced a day late? Is any sane person buying into this crap? Anyone?

No, I'm totally wrong — I didn't read the article carefully enough. Johnson said "Australian-style trading *arrangement*. And his speech makes it pretty clear the current Australia-EU arrangement is his proposed fallback.

I agree about keeping some perspective on this. I note that City of Norwich and police have responded quickly to the 'speak English' outrage, what we need to do is reinforce elsewhere and ensure the ball doesn't get dropped or laws amended for the worse.

The concerning thing is that your "duped voters" slur actually damages the Rejoin cause. People who *still* don't consider themselves dupes, after 3½ years of being so told, won't suddenly change their minds if you say it more. They'll just feel angrier and more entrenched.

It was utterly irresponsible of both the UK government and the European Commission to separate the withdrawal agreement from the future trade deal. It means the trade deal can now be vetoed by any one of the EU27 countries. The negotiators aren't in reasonable control any more.

Why can't behave like this? It's a terrorist attack - a real one - & British cop asks people to "please" evacuate In cops beat, fire teargas, rubber bullets at anyone walking in street & at peaceful protesters That's why needs universal suffrage

The logical responses to "what about" questions are: 1) Condemn both things 2) Condemn neither, or 3) Show there's a difference Blocking "whataboutery" without doing one of these things is empty sloganeering, not rational debate.

Oh WOW, he blocked me because I asked for consistency on condemning song lyrics. And "Responsibility begins at home" is literally WHY all these anthems speak of preserving freedom in THEIR nation. 🤦

Ok! So either 1) The Prime Minister is as thick as pigsh*t, or 2) He's referring to the text the EU has proposed for a deal with Australia. If it were Trump I'd probably guess 1, but Johnson is clearly far cleverer than Trump.

All of these are EEA regulations, right? I.e. they're arguments against a Hard Brexit but not a Norway-style Soft Brexit in which we'd keep all these benefits.

Fine by me. If they'd rather be independent that's their call, and it's no less legit than Brexit. Not sure I'd vote Yes, but it's not really my call.

I think we all had to just use the knowledge we’d got (some of us probably invested more time into researching the pros and cons than others) and vote to the best of our ability. In my opinion, it was an issue far too complicated for most people on both sides to fully understand.
