I pay for Google's streaming music service so I get free Premium YouTube as part of the deal and nothing gets me to sign in faster than three sodding ads in a row. This is gonna backfire on them. Most people can't/won't pay premium and they won't suffer this. An exodus cometh.
I mean, if you have basic cable, definitely check out YouTubeTV because I think Premium YouTube comes with it. Have a look at their channel lineup. And their DVR is pretty fantastic. Plus they have tons of previous seasons of shows available on demand. And some older films, too.

And you can watch it on your computer, your Roku, your Android TV, your AppleTV, Kodi (maybe? yeah? no?), your Android phone or your Apple phone or tablet - you pretty much have basic cable plus movie channels like IFC and Sundance and FX/FXX, so much sports ... too much sports

But anywhere you've got wifi or cellular (it will chew up bandwidth, see if your cellular provider offers unlimited bandwidth for YouTubeTV -they might- and only in the US right now
), you've got a cable box in your pocket. Plus TV access if you're out when storms are imminent. - 1 more reply

Plus, you can share your account with up to five other members (maybe six) of your family (finger quotes). So you could pool your funds together with some friends and cut a bunch of cables. Google has your viewing habits, but then again, so does your cable megacorp.
