Re 100% uptime, it usually just means 'well not quantify our needs, because we put money people in critical positions' - it totally limits really getting good uptime. Safety critical stuff that needs high uptimes get there BECAUSE they don't make imaginary goals - 1/2

even 'no more than 4ms' is achievable just fine, while 100% is NOTHING. From my convo today: the fallback for hospital outages is 'use paper' and 'quickly put up field hospitals' - how can WE think, accept and not sob about how badly we fail in IT for that to be needed? 2/2
