Been thinking lately about how the difference between understanding something & not understanding it can be so dramatic. Noticed my wife go through this as she learned how to play one video game (Borderlands 2) and now has the “gamer vision” that lifelong gamers take for granted

a thing to learn as early as possible is how to make failures small and survivable, and how to recover from them gracefully. also there are always more new people and places to explore

He'll probably say something like "make 100 friends" :) Which is true. But doing so mindfully and having fun with it, not for the sake of the number.

Maybe I'll keep a New Friend Journal with what space I met them in + a note re: what I think they're looking for in friendship. I think that could work.
