Rationalists seek to increase the number of causal steps they can mentally juggle - ie they want to model the world well to make good predictions. Postrationalists seem to want to close the gap completely, to see the present as clearly as possible.

Why close the gap? It can lead to novel experiences. It can bring inner peace and transformation to look at your direct experience. Ironically, it can also improve your ability to model the world and make predictions, because you're getting more accurate at the lowest level.

Hence why postrationalist activities can make you a better rationalist, if that's your intention. Hence why the big confusion about what postrationality even is when it's sat next to rationality.
