What are some fairly atomic teachable skills that most people can learn in, say, 40 hours and will significantly improve their life? The prompt for this thought process was therapeutic so Focusing and CBT were what came to mind, but other categories of answers are good too.

If there's one skill that will qualitatively improve the day to day lives of people, it's learning to give deep, acute attention to the kindness of people, and then going out of your way to express appreciation. This skill has incidental effects on other "network of beliefs."

It creates more "emotional richness" for every person you encounter. You grow your "battery level", and share your "charge" with everyone you come across. You notice (a) how much
you filter out, (b) how nobody owes you anything, and (c) how glad you feel to be here and alive
