In my alternate universe, any child that reads books under the desk at school is given a full scholarship to do whatever they want. If they want, they get to skip regular school and hang out in the library with all the other self-directed nerds. Some elder nerds loosely supervise

“How will you pay for this?” Self-directed nerds create billions of dollars of value. I’ll just ask for like 0.1% of their stock or something. Whatever they feel like contributing. They’ll want to hire other self-directed nerds too, so it’s a whole self-sustaining pipeline

Imagine not only being a nerdy self-directed child who is *allowed* to pursue your curiosity, but also doing it in a lovely library where a few elder nerds smile at you supportively, ask you genuine questions, and even show you the cool stuff *they* are working on?? Paradise
