but We (Society) could make it more traumatic if We decide that it's something worth feeling traumatized about

(the idea of "processing" trauma only applies to psychological trauma; physical traumas just heal with time and care. there exist instances where physical trauma can induce psychological trauma though, but it entirely revolves around what happens next in the social world)

Entirely correct, but circumcision is not usually just a physical trauma: It's something that people are doing to you, despite protests. Rather than stopping when they notice the infant is in distress, they apply more force, using active thought about how to make you comply.

sure, but infants get all sorts of unwanted stuff done to them---maybe they want food or hugs but mom is gone for a while, maybe they don't want to go to bed, or daycare with some strange adult, etc. at least circumcision is over pretty quick.

How do you know they “got over it”? Because they act “normal”?

what does it even mean to experience a psychological trauma before you have a personality (a view of how things are/"should" be)?

Issues with attention, self-regulation, experience seeking, sensory processing... likely “subclinical”

Btw what is "self-regulation"? I've heard the word but never understood it. Like how is it different from self-discipline (assuming it is)?

Perhaps self-regulation of emotions - can you press the brakes on dropping into fight/flight/freeze, etc. Polyvagal theory is about this.
