I encourage, and would appreciate any shared opinions here — what are the most fundamental words/concepts that you can imagine? Fundamental from what perspective, you might ask Essentially, think about words which cannot easily be explained or "filed" under other concepts...
I do think analogy and comparison do fit better (I was thinking of analogy in the Douglas Hofstatder sense, fundamental to cognition), but something still bugs me about variable - it's a symbol for something else. A value, vector, matrix, even functions. Hence, analogy.

I do think "variable" is getting closer to fundamentals, but could be described by simpler concepts.
