1/15 #i2 Due to its many flaws, & as Dr Wolfram Hartmann has noted, #AAP’s 2012 Circumcision Policy - the work of Dr Andrew Freedman (among others) - has been found “by almost all other pediatric societies and associations worldwide as being scientifically untenable.”

#i2 Why? An unprecedented rebuke from 38 leading pediatricians & other physicians from 17 different countries found the conclusions of Dr Freedman & the rest of the#AAP Task Force to be “strongly culturally biased.”#i2#AndrewFreedmanBias http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/early/2013/03/12/peds.2012-2896 …1 reply 0 retweets 4 likesShow this thread -

#i2 Undeterred by his total blindness to his own#bias & the many serious deficiencies in the 2012#AAP Circumcision Policy Statement, Dr Freedman (w/2 others) will present this weekend in#sanfrancisco…wait for it…1 reply 1 retweet 4 likesShow this thread -

#i2 According to the abstract: “Each source was classified as either medical-based information or opinion/advocacy.” The implication that the 2 are mutually exclusive is false. Were it true, then#AAP#tweetiatricians could not be advocates for their patients.2 replies 0 retweets 5 likesShow this thread -
Replying to @cooney21
This dichotomy is also not exhaustive. There are also ethics and human rights to consider, and the peculiar way this stone-age blood/sex/magic ritual wormed its way into religion and then medicine and became a "medical" custom in the USA but now nowhere else.

Agreed, & that's very well put. Doctors who support forced genital-cutting (& Dr Freedman in particular) are notorious for simply ignoring the ethical & human rights issues. I didn't try to be exhaustive - I figured 15 tweets was enough for 1 thread
