Everyday he has to do injections (the boy said he doesn’t mind, but he is 4). And there is an increased chance of bone cancer. As a parent, what do you decide?

If u don’t give him the treatment, he ends up short, hates you for life. You give him the treatment, he might get bone cancer. Does his “consent” count? He is only 4, can he even make a proper judgment call on such a serious matter??

Anyway my point is as parents we sometimes have to make decisions based on what we guess our future child will want and what’s best for them. Many men (n women but that’s less important) prefer a cut penis. So parents go with cutting coz they GUESS.

It’s not to mutilate the child, it’s not to torture the child or to go against his rights. Often it’s coz the simple circumcision surgery has a time limit of 3 months. So it’s not fair to accuse the parents of all these things.

Anyway I went off the rails here. But conclusion: male circumcision is NOT the same as FGM. NOT EVEN CLOSE. So don’t compare the two. You can have your disagreement on this issue and see it as a human rights violation but don’t use FGM as a basis for your argument.pic.twitter.com/1ygLyf0Jvh

Lol I wrote such a long thread explaining how it’s different and people are just yelling “IT’S THE SAME” like the thread didn’t happen. Wonder why so many people support torture and mutilationhttps://twitter.com/xiaxue/status/993326475817308161?s=21 …

Just to be extra clear: I don’t approve of male circumcision by parents when the kid is not an infant anymore. That’s because I saw that the infant had no pain. On children or tweens I disapprove of it.

I’m an atheist so I don’t agree with doing it just for religion either. I’m on the fence about male circumcision. I can see why people don’t approve of it, but I can also see that adult men who were cut as babies like their cut penises so they want the same for their kids.
