My pediatrician recommends it & gave valid reasons. My patients who are circ'd have fewer UTIs, less scrotal edema, easier catheter placement, & WAY easier hygiene. That said, I absolutely support those who choose not to do so. The benefits are not enormous, though they do exist.

Menstrual hygiene isn't simply "genital hygiene," and female genitals are more prone to UTI due to the shorter length of the urethra and the proximity to the anus, as well as because they are usually the receptive sexual partner.

More ad hominem. And no, there's no evidence that female cutting of any kind has any benefits whatsoever, and there is plenty of evidence to the contrary. Again, the two are NOT equivalent.

There are studies suggesting that female genital cutting might have health benefits. But a prophylactic health benefit wouldn't make cutting a girl's genitals ethical. Cutting of boys' genitals also can't be justified by prophylactic "health benefits" http://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ …
