@BarbaraRKay Please educate me about why the human foreskin is a "non-essential bacteria trap." Why isn't the homologous female part, the clitoral hood, also a "non-essential bacteria trap?" Sincere question. #i2

Sincere answer: women don't suffer from balanitis, because clitoral hood not the same. Sincere question: If foreskin so essential to them, why did men come up with idea of removal?

As circumcision historically was done to slaves & conquered enemies, probably for the same reason(s) men came up w/the idea of violence & slavery generally. Moreover, it's dangerous to assume

If women invented and wanted FGM,it would be a different scenario. But men invented both. FGM kills sexual enjoyment for women, not the case for circumcision. They are quintessentially different.

Did you read the article w/my tweet? Including the parts noting that some women say they don't mind the type of FGM (there's more than 1) inflicted on them & are proud of it, & other women say they want FGM for their daughters? Do you agree w/author these women should be heard?

@CliffH1111 Brian Earp's well-sourced article makes clear the falsity of the Western cultural assumption that FGM & MGM are "quintessentially different." It's too bad so many of those who believe that assumption cling to it even in the face of its compelling refutation.

It's telling that Barbara Kay, like every other pro-cutter, has offered absolutely no credible response to intactivists' arguments. What can she say? Strapping down a boy to sever part of his penis w/out medical need is indisputably unethical & immoral #i2 http://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ …
