And my apologies to anyone who was distressed by my use of that word.

Rather than victim-blaming, shouldn't we recognize that removing a child's body part w/out medical need is wrong, regardless of gender, as the author of this article suggests? If not, can you explain - with specificity - how his analysis is incorrect? http://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ …

1/3 Can you answer my questions? If you'd read the article I sent, you'd see there are many types of FGM, including a "ritual nick" of the foreskin or hood of the clitoris that is far less invasive/extensive than MGM, which permanently removes healthy & functional tissue

2/3 Some women who undergo FGM "are proud of being cut" - as proud of it as you are. "The women in societies that practice what they call female circumcision are just as devoted to their cultural traditions as are the men who practice genital cutting of boys."

3/3 So what's the difference between FGM & MGM? Suggest you read the article this time before answering, as your not doing so makes it far too easy to see your ignorance. #i2 http://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ …
