Ice cold. With few exceptions, it's just US doctors who promote circumcision, and their main motivation is the usual one: circumcision is a billion $ industry in the US. Elsewhere, MDs are by varying degrees opposed to it. Danish Medical Ass'n calls it "ethically unacceptable"

Did you ever ask your parents why they had you circumcised? If so, what "reason" did they give? If not, how do you know they weren't misled?

Do you mean for boys or for girls? I say "no" to forcibly modifying the genitals of both boys and girls for non therapeutic reasons. In 2010,
#AAP suggested it would be ok to perform some types of FGM. For a more consistent view, consider this: http://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ …

If the gov't wanted to stop adults from circumcising themselves, I'd agree w/you. But no one wants that. The gov't already enforces a ban against every other type of non therapeutic amputation of a child's body. Why should the foreskin be treated differently?
