There are studies that say that. If that were the case though why when the US is one of the most circumcised countries does the US also as a civilized country have the highest incidence of STDs? A child may grow up and not have sex anyway so how can we use that as an excuse?

It decreases the rate not prevents infection. Everyone is free to choose.

Actually no they’re not. They SHOULD be, but instead, many parents in the USA continue to genitally mutilate their male children therefore everyone does not get to choose to have intact genitals. 😢

I know it makes a diff even during sex. Interesting to see what partners say about it. I'm against FGM though!

All I’m saying is we should be against CUTTING all baby’s genitals but we aren’t. It’s illegal to cut Baby girls in the USA and encouraged to cut Baby boys 💔🤷🏼‍♀️🤔🤔🤔🤔

I’m not excusing MGM-see above- but the two procedures are very different and with different rationale. If MGM was 1/3 of penile shaft, including the head, removed without anaesthetic, using a rusty blade, on 8yr old boys, then Male circumcision would be very rare indeed.

I think you'll all find this perspective from a Yale bioethicist interesting: http://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ …

So the study says that no research conducted is conclusive evidence and that it's mainly done for cultural rather than medical reasons. There are 4 types of FGM some don't even remove any skin. WHO & Western world don't criminalize (or regulate) #MGM but do #FGM. What a mess

Not removing skin(in fact piercing the hood of the clitoris) doesn’t disguise the fact that the reasons for the practice of all types of FGM are to make women “clean” and to control their sexuality or to preserve their vaginas for marriage or for society to own their bodies.
