I’m doing research on circumcision and I’m really curious about the men in my community’s personal experiences with it. As an older male do you feel violated for your parents having it done? Do you aesthetically prefer it? If you aren’t circumcised do you wish you were?

No matter what people tell you, you need to do what you think is best. I had so much hate because I circumcised my son, but to me he’s never going to have issues later on as an adult and it’s a procedure that lasts 5-10 min that they’ll never remember.

You simply don't know that he's "never going to have issues". There's a high chance he will suffer from meatal stenosis, keratinization of the glans and erectile dysfunction. Not to mention you've had the most sensitive erogenous part of his penis removed, irreversibly.

There is plenty of chances anyone can have issues but for me that was the choice I decided. I’m the one who gave birth to him and when I did I accepted the duty of doing what’s best for my child. It’s my job to do that.

You may have given birth to him but you don't own his body. His body, his choice. It's your job to protect your child - not to subject him to unnecessary and irreversible cosmetic genital surgery.

But me being his parent I have control what happens to his body until he is 18. Thank you though

Are you saying you think parents have the right to circumcise a 16 or 17 year old? And yes, that is something that some parents (particularly new step-parents) will try to do. #i2
