I’m honestly not sure if I’ll have my son circumcised. I think I’ll leave the decision up to his dad but I’m not really a fan

Glad I was... I’ve known many grown men that have had to get circumcised as adults to mitigate infections and they had good hygiene. I haven’t missed a thing and nothing was stolen from me.

That is the boat I am in... I wish I had been done as a child so I wouldn't have to deal with it now. There are pros and cons both ways even if the anti circumcision crowd won't admit it.

Do you think you’ve been hygienic when it comes to caring for it. Most men in my culture are uncircumcised and they don’t really get infections

I was circumcised after birth. Penile infections are not something most men go around advertising no matter what culture so I believe most men would be ones you may know. The fact of the matter is a foreskin can still be problematic for that reason even with good hygiene.

Well I’m going off demographics on CDC and infections related to circumcisions aren’t much of the problem as much as STIs which is mostly about safe sex practices. I just feel like it’s backwards to say “my body my choice” and then make that choice for my son

I hear ya and that’s all true. I totally get that. I have no regrets about my parents making that choice and I made it for my son. You sound like a wonderful parent who’s thoughtful and willing to be informed no matter what.

Lol I’m not a parent. I’m a nursing student who’s seeing a lot of circumcisions being performed and the parents are usually uneducated about it and are just doing it because they think it’s supposed to be done

Lol! Well, they used to recommend it a long time ago but they realized they couldn’t recommend anything elective. I would say if you ask a urologist, I’d say off the record they’d recommend.

Thanks for the inaccurate & unhelpful speculation. An MD can't ethically perform, let alone "recommend" elective surgery on a child. If it's not to diagnose or treat a presently-existing condition, parental permission to surgery on a child is unethical #i2 https://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/pediatrics/95/2/314.full.pdf …
