yesterday while I was giving a baby sugar water to suck on during his circumcision the attending PIMPED ME on reasons why we do circumcisions. I haven’t even applied to med school yet and I’m already being pimped

Sucrose has a mild analgesic effect in infants. It is usually given when other types of pain relief haven't worked. It doesn't provide the kind of pain relief necessary to effectively reduce severe pain, such as that experienced during circumcision.
