The medical community cannot ignore and belittle patients who were circumcised as infants who now speak out as adults that they are horrified this surgery was done to them without their informed consent. Attacking them now is an affront to patient autonomy and medical ethics.

When he's 18 y.o. - just as with any other elective surgery. Do you also tell women who had
#FGM forced on them to absolve the MDs who actually cut them from any responsibility for it? Read this before you embarrass yourself by saying#FGM is always worse:https://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ …0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
The case wasn't "dropped." The Court dismissed certain charges on its
#horseandbuggy commerce clause interpretation. You are utterly delusional if you think the girls involved in this case, as well as infant boys subjected to circumcision, don't have it forced on them by an MD.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
Parental "consent" to elective surgery on a child isn't valid consent at all. As
@AmerAcadPeds has said, parents may provide "informed permission," but only to 1) diagnose or 2) treat their child's existing condition. Elective circumcision does neither. http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/pediatrics/95/2/314.full.pdf …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
Replying to @cooney21 @PubHealthNerd and
So the only part of your tweet that you manage to get right is that you're "not arguing morality." And you stay away from morality because cutting into a child's genitals without compelling medical need is clearly immoral.

But I'll give you credit for one thing: by suggesting that neither girls nor boys should have a right to be kept safe from genital cutting, at least you're consistent. #i2
