The medical community cannot ignore and belittle patients who were circumcised as infants who now speak out as adults that they are horrified this surgery was done to them without their informed consent. Attacking them now is an affront to patient autonomy and medical ethics.
Parental "consent" to elective surgery on a child isn't valid consent at all. As @AmerAcadPeds has said, parents may provide "informed permission," but only to 1) diagnose or 2) treat their child's existing condition.
