Hell no. I do not disagree. Unfortunately, the boards do what they want. They selectively take advice of physicians and they are also politically motivated unfortunately. I wonder if the Federation of state medical boards has a position statement on this.

Thanks for your answer. It seems most state medical boards suffer from political & other biases & get away with doing little to nothing when it comes to regulating physicians. It's time to demand change to that. Bansar, do you have a view on the question I asked? Anyone else?

Unfortunately when "the public" pressures med boards to discipline more doctors, it's kind of like pressuring a drunk driver to drive faster. They are incompetent and they harm innocent physicians in order to increase the numbers. Only 50% chance they do it right. Bansar?

A perfect example is this FGM. Where are the med boards? This is a crime. It is physical assault. There is no medical benefit to FGM. Med board should be all over this. If they were competent we would not need another law to prevent assault on children!

US State Medical Boards that actually do their jobs & properly regulate physicians & protect public health? A radical idea whose time has come.

I generally do not believe that med board actions are helpful. I think they do not make the doc "better" anymore than education would bc most mistakes are not intentional. But crimes like this..intentional harm..this is when med board actions can actually protect public.

"protection shall be paramount" is the term used to brainwash med board members into believing that the harm they cause actually protects the public So they can't actually recognize when they really can protect the public bc they believe they always protect the public.

I think it's more basic than that. This is about requiring physicians to comply with a minimal ethical standard. Physicians who promote removing clitoral hoods from healthy girls fall below that standard in a way that threatens public health. It's about ethics, not competence

But they are not competent to make the necessary judgment call to know that a procedure cutting into a child genital area which has no medical benefit at all, it's actually a crime. It's an assault. Its beyond ethics, it's a moral violation.
