What? I don't have time to research this right now but are you saying that medical associations are condoning this? What about the pediatricians? Dont tell me they have failed to take a stand against this!?@#?

Here's what
#AAP said about Type IV#FGM - the type of FGM involved in this case - in 2010: "[T]he ritual nick ... is not physically harmful." http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/pediatrics/125/5/1088.full.pdf … AAP "retired" that statement after massive public backlash, but w/#FGM ban now gone, who knows? It may come back1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

And it's not just Type IV
#FGM that some US doctors promote. Drs. Jacobs & Arora have already said that removing girls' clitoral hoods is just fine. They will now have $$ in their eyes. Make no mistake, child genital cutting is big business.#i2#meded https://jme.bmj.com/content/medethics/42/3/148.full.pdf …1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

That's it! Stop the visas now!
@realDonaldTrump Not only are they taking residency spots from Americans but they are infiltrating our associations of authority and allowing female genital mutilation! Omg. Stop this NOW! Have we lost our minds? I did not know!1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

They can't outlaw fgm, while allowing mgm (circumcision). That's the problem. We have to stop both. But too many western cultures were tricked into thinking mgm is "fine and can even be beneficial", which is what the tricked believers in fgm also say.

We are up against a huge amount of data supporting male circumcision. FGM is not a part of our culture bc there is no medical benefit and it is assault and battery on a child who actively denies consent. It should be easier to outlaw.

Actually, there is no data supporting the circumcision of boys that is accepted by the int'l (i.e., non-American) medical community. These 38 leading pediatricians found the AAP's male circumcision position to be the result of its strong cultural biashttp://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/131/4/796 …

Which is to say that if
#MGM were "not part of our culture" the same way#FGM isn't, American MDs would be able to recognize what is obvious to MDs throughout the rest of the world: MGM, like FGM, is assault & battery w/no medical benefit that could justify forcing it on a child.1 reply 1 retweet 1 like -

And if you mean to suggest male infants don't "actively deny consent," then that is just an illustration of the very American MD cultural bias those 38 MDs were talking about. Why do you think those boys scream & flail? They are actively refusing consent the only way they can.

I'm not talking about culture here. I'm talking about a legal nuance. I'm trying to figure out how to stop FGM quickly as possible. The MGM poses a different legal challenge. I'm not condoning it but it is more difficult legally. It will require more opinions and weighing eviden

I also want to stop #FGM ASAP but I disagree that MGM is more difficult legally. IMO, it's more difficult politically & culturally. If the US FGM ban had included MGM, it never could have withstood a legal challenge under either the 10th or 14 Amendments. That's because MGM...

...clearly is a commercial activity (a multi-billion $ industry) & b/c a ban on all child genital cutting clearly creates no 14th Amendment equal protection problem. The failure to see that MGM is assault & battery & child abuse, just as FGM is, is political & cultural, not legal

I think the pathway to stopping MGM is to first battle the data presented by the CDC. The CDC is the ultimate authority over all other associations. Publish a journal paper. Get media involved. Also I wonder about Jewish religion scholars input.
