Absolutely, doctors should know better! Thank you for saying so!

I'm so angry about this. I think they should loose their med license bc they chose to harm children based on religious belief. They allowed this belief to dismiss the fundamental role of the physician.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The entire US medical profession has a serious

What? I don't have time to research this right now but are you saying that medical associations are condoning this? What about the pediatricians? Dont tell me they have failed to take a stand against this!?@#?

Here's what
#AAP said about Type IV#FGM - the type of FGM involved in this case - in 2010: "[T]he ritual nick ... is not physically harmful." http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/pediatrics/125/5/1088.full.pdf … AAP "retired" that statement after massive public backlash, but w/#FGM ban now gone, who knows? It may come back1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

And it's not just Type IV
#FGM that some US doctors promote. Drs. Jacobs & Arora have already said that removing girls' clitoral hoods is just fine. They will now have $$ in their eyes. Make no mistake, child genital cutting is big business.#i2#meded https://jme.bmj.com/content/medethics/42/3/148.full.pdf …1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

That's it! Stop the visas now!
@realDonaldTrump Not only are they taking residency spots from Americans but they are infiltrating our associations of authority and allowing female genital mutilation! Omg. Stop this NOW! Have we lost our minds? I did not know!1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

They can't outlaw fgm, while allowing mgm (circumcision). That's the problem. We have to stop both. But too many western cultures were tricked into thinking mgm is "fine and can even be beneficial", which is what the tricked believers in fgm also say.

Listen, here is the link to the CDC information on male circumcision. HIV prevention has been added to the cause. There are medical benefits according to the CDC. These benefits can be challenged and debated but there are no medical benefits to FMG.

And here's the link to an article showing why the studies the CDC relies on are flawed.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4364150/ …

Does #FGM have health benefits? "At least two studies by Western scientists have shown a negative correlation between female circumcision and HIV." If MDs actually looked for health benefits in #FGM as they look for them in #MGM, they'd likely find them.https://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ …

Replying to @cooney21 @shalenamd and
But MDs don't look for health benefits in
#FGM for a sound & simple reason: amputating healthy tissue from a child solely for alleged prophylactic reasons (as opposed to therapeutic reasons) is unethical. That's Bioethics 101, & that's the double standard that needs to end.#i22 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

I was wondering about that. I would hope they didnt go there. It cannot possibly be statistically significant.
