People wanting to justify circumcision need rationales other than ' coz parents make other decisions for kids.' There are some things we let parents do to their kids (eg make them take medicine) & some we don't (tattoo them). Why is penis trimming *specifically* on the 'yes' side

No, the burden of proof is on the other side that it *can't* be justified and *needs* to be banned. Not the other way around

It's not a factual claim. It's where the line is drawn. I have said many times why I think CC crosses it. Coz it hurts, is medically unnecessary, carries risk & the man might not want it. Religious freedom or aesthetic preferences don't justify modifying someone else's genitals.

To this, I get responses that parents make other decisions for kids which are OK. Granted. Now justify this one. What gives you the right to modify someone else's genitals (unless making the decision on the advice of a doctor)

First, the American Academy of Pediatrics disagrees with you. Second, when you want to ban parents from how they raise their kids, whether it's religion, medicine, etc the burden of proof is on YOU to prove that it's unacceptably bad. https://www.aap.org/en-us/about-the-aap/aap-press-room/Pages/Newborn-Male-Circumcision.aspx …

I have said why I think it is bad. If you don't have a justification for modifying another humans genitals when they can't consent, you don't, and we'll leave it here. Nobody can prove that something is unacceptably bad. We have to make arguments for what should be acceptable.

Did you read the academy's report? Maybe I'm not understanding your position. If so lmk where I'm out of bounds. But if "medical benefits outweigh risks" isn't enough of a justification ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The NHS disagrees with you. Their studies show there is no reasonable excuse for having this procedure done without medical cause, and religious reasons should not be taken into account

As do virtually all of the rest of the world's physicians.

Yes. EVERY other nat'l association of pediatricians takes a different view, and they consider the position taken by @AmerAcadPeds to be "scientifically untenable," "ethically unacceptable," & "strongly culturally biased" Here's why: http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/pediatrics/early/2013/03/12/peds.2012-2896.full.pdf …https://www.researchgate.net/publication/316527603_Cultural_bias_in_American_medicine_the_case_of_infant_male_circumcision …
