Hi, I need some advice. As we all know, the nose is a nasty part of our bodies. It accumulates snot, traps bacteria in it's pores, & causes irritation during illness. I want to amputate my son's nose out of good intention & cultural belief. I know he'll thank me later. Thoughts?

Where's the self-appointed

How can 1 "benefit" of nose amputation outweigh the risks when the risks are unknown? See, there are no studies of the risks of nose amputation, and so that must mean nose amputation has no risks. If you don't quite follow that "logic", well, the AAP doesn't care...

Agree, but greed is a bigger part of the equation in the US than elsewhere b/c of the unique nature of the US health care system. It creates perverse financial incentives that are a moral hazard. No doctor ever collected several hundred dollars for telling a parent not to cut.
