Thinking I might get through an entire week of nursery rounds without a single baby being told by lactation that they needed their tongue clipped- prior to 12 hours of age. But alas, no.... #tweetiatrician

"On the schedule" meaning he was going to be circumcised? Without any form of consent???
-
When I objected to his being put on the schedule - & then told that only "the doctor" could take him off the schedule - I was told by a nurse not to worry, as he couldn't actually be cut w/out a signed parental consent form...

And when I tried to get him off that schedule, I was told "only a doctor can do that." Of course, the OB/GYN responsible had to admit there was no medical need for it, & he came off the schedule in the end, but it was a fight that never should have been foisted on me or my wife.

"On the schedule" with no request and no medical need and your request isn't enough to remove him??? Huh? Horrifying and sickening.

Yes. I made a point of reminding the OB/GYN & everyone else in the delivery room right after he was born that he was not to be cut. I wasn't an intactivist at the time, & as I was saying it, I felt like I was verging on paranoia. But it's not paranoia if they're really after you.

This is why my son never left my line-of-sight until we got home. Starting parenthood on several all-nighter sucked, but protecting my child’s rights... worth it.
