FYI, in the next year, about a million American boys are going to have a perfectly natural, healthy and extremely sensitive part of their anatomy amputated, many w/out any anesthetic.
Have you called CPS yet? Or is that a "tomorrow" task? #i2 #HisBodyHisChoice @AmerAcadPeds

Parents can't
#consent to child abuse. Even the#AAP Bioethics Committee says parents can't give proxy consent (i.e., "informed permission") to have a child's healthy body part amputated if it's not for diagnosis or treatment.#i2#HisBodyHisChoice http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/pediatrics/95/2/314.full.pdf …1 reply 1 retweet 7 likes -

#i2#HisBodyHisChoice Amputation of healthy tissue is a drastic treatment of last resort, to be employed only when necessary because more conservative and less invasive treatment of a serious, presently existing, adverse physical, clinical condition would be ineffective...1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

#i2#HisBodyHisChoice That is never the case for a newborn’s healthy foreskin. Amputation of a boy’s foreskin in the absence of any adverse physical, clinical condition clearly is neither “diagnosis” nor “treatment.”1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

#i2#HisBodyHisChoice Nothing about the non-therapeutic amputation of a unique, valuable and functional part of a child’s genitals would permit such an amputation before a time when the “assent of the child” — free of all forms of coercion and duress — can be sought and obtained.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

#i2 Even when parents DON'T agree to have their sons cut, circumcision can STILL be forced on them over their objections. Just ask#HeatherHironimus. Look at her face - does that look like#consent to you? Is this the kind of unfounded speculation on which you make recommendations for your own patients' treatment? That simply being 4 "made it highly likely that he was having some sort of health issue"? You can't just invent a fake narrative to make yourself feel better...

about being a health care provider in a country where they clearly don't care about lack of patient consent OR parental permission before cutting off a child's healthy body part for no good reason. Circumcision apologists lie like that all the time, & it needs to stop.

Fact: This boy had NO "health issue" before he was cut. Fact: The sole, court-appointed medical expert testified that if the boy was his own son, he wouldn't let him be cut. That testimony was ignored, w/out justification. #i2 #HisBodyHisChoice
