not really, but they could just call it a movie/ series or something.. IP feels the same as "content" to me, it's just a joyless clinical term
"franchise" still pisses me off because it's a corporate thing that doesn't translate over to the arts. you can bring Burger King to a new state and it'll be virtually the same but you cannot bring the Simpsons to a new generation and have it fulfill the same role

Makes sense. If "IP" and "franchise" invoke the specifically corporate side of things then wouldn't "canon" do better in referring to the fiction itself, the creativity and artistry involved in making that sort of thing?
