I'm genuinely curious: why to vegans have fakemeat products? What is the point of pretending to eat meat with an artificial, faux- facsimile? Why not just eat grains, lentils, tofu, veg and fruit? I don't get it. What's the point of that product?

I've tried meat "substitutes", yes. I have a couple of vegan friends and they insisted. It tasted awful: & had a revolting after-taste that I couldn't wash away with water. If I had no meat I'd rather just eat lentils and tofu. But you avoid the question.
