As the Forestry and Wildlife law in Peru is being re-evaluated, Indigenous peoples and their lands are once again at risk if the law is passed. Congress has a duty to protect progress on sustainable development and the rights of Indigenous peoples, and must reject the law.

Do you know the Ara militaris? They are monogamous, staying with one mate for life their lifespan of around 50-60 years in the wild, they are gregarious, even though they live in colonies, they forage independently or fly in pairs. Amazingly beautiful birds.

Their paper, published in Biological Conservation, contributes to a small but growing body of evidence. It might only be the beginning but we are certain that unconditional cash payments to support people in the rainforest will be the smartest climate action this coming decade.

Two years ago, we were lucky to be introduced to Callum Sheehan by our friend and environmentalist at Leeds Uni. It was the beginning of a long research journey into uncharted territory - the world of no-strings cash for people who live in 'biodiversity hotspots'.
