If gravitons have mass, doesn’t that set a scale for gravity. Shouldn’t there then be a max size of large scale structures set not by the age of the universe but by graviton mass? And I don’t see how it makes expansion accelerate? More mass makes deceleration...

It works like any other modified theory of gravity. Here there are extra degrees of freedom, apart of the spin-2 graviton. These generate what we call a fifth force, which is screened locally e. g. does not affect solar system physics but at long distances behave as dark energy.
